Americold and EQT Form $1.3 Billion Cold Storage Joint Venture
Americold Realty Trust and EQT have established a North American cold storage joint venture valued at over $1.3 billion. EQT will acquire a 70% stake in the new entity.

Americold Realty Trust, a temperature-controlled logistics provider, and global investment organization EQT have announced the formation of a joint venture focused on cold storage facilities in North America. The venture is valued at over $1.3 billion.
Under the agreement, Americold will contribute 12 cold storage facilities to the venture, representing approximately 124 million cubic feet of temperature-controlled capacity. EQT will acquire a 70% interest, while Americold will retain a 30% stake and continue to manage the day-to-day operations. Americold anticipates receiving about $1.1 billion in net cash proceeds, intended for debt repayment.
This strategic partnership aims to strengthen Americold's balance sheet and capitalize on growth opportunities within cold chain infrastructure. EQT brings expertise in temperature-controlled logistics, including its ownership of a major European cold storage provider. The joint venture will focus on identifying and developing strategically located assets to support critical nodes in the cold supply chain.
The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Financial advisors and lenders were involved on behalf of both Americold and EQT for the transaction.
