Amgen's UK & Ireland General Manager Elected President of ABPI
Russell Abberley, Vice President and General Manager for Amgen UK and Ireland, has been formally elected as the new President of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI). He begins his two-year term on May 13.

Russell Abberley, Vice President and General Manager for Amgen UK and Ireland, has been formally elected President of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI). Abberley will commence his two-year term on May 13, continuing to hold his executive position at Amgen.
In his role at ABPI, Abberley will focus on the UK's position in pharmaceutical research, development, and launch. His priorities include fostering a robust life sciences ecosystem that ensures patient access to innovative medicines and attracts global investment.
The appointment comes ahead of key government plans, including the NHS 10-Year Plan and the Life Sciences Sector Plan. Abberley expressed confidence in the industry's role in supporting the government's health and economic growth objectives.
Abberley brings over 25 years of experience in the life sciences industry. He has served on the ABPI Board since July 2020 and has been involved in industry negotiations with the government over the past five years.
