AMTD International Engages in Strategic Investments and Partnerships
AMTD International Inc. and its subsidiaries have undertaken strategic investments and partnerships with various entities, including a joint venture with 36Kr and Xiaomi, and a strategic acquisition of PolicyPal.
AMTD International Inc. and its parent company, AMTD Group, have been actively involved in strategic investments and partnerships over several years.
In March 2021, the company announced the formation of a joint venture with Chinese media company 36Kr and technology firm Xiaomi. This venture, named AK73 Capital, is set to focus on investment opportunities within Asia.
Prior to this, in March 2021, Airstar Digital, a subsidiary of Xiaomi Corporation, made a strategic investment into AMTD Capital, an affiliate of AMTD International. Specifics of this transaction were not disclosed.
Further back, in March 2020, AMTD Digital, the digital finance arm of AMTD Group, announced the strategic acquisition of a controlling stake in PolicyPal, a Chinese insurtech company. The move aimed to expand its digital offerings.
The company's historical strategic activities also include an investment in AppMobi (now AMTD Digital) and support for its listing on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, as well as involvement with the Bank of Qingdao's development.
