Amway has inaugurated the first phase of its new $81 million nutrition manufacturing facility in Ada, Michigan. The 317,000-square-foot facility, located near the company's global headquarters, will house select manufacturing operations for Amway's Nutrilite brand of vitamins, minerals, and dietary supplements.
The new facility is designed to meet global demand for supplements that combine scientific research with natural ingredients. It has the capacity to produce over 1.3 billion soft gel capsules annually, focusing on products such as Nutrilite Salmon Omega-3.
This expansion represents a significant upgrade in manufacturing technology and processes. The plant can yield more than 3.5 million soft gel capsules per day, faster and more efficiently than before, while maintaining high quality standards. This is part of Amway's broader $332 million investment in manufacturing expansion, with several new facilities opening in 2015.
Sales from nutrition products accounted for a substantial portion of Amway's $10.8 billion in total sales in 2014. Nutrilite is Amway's leading global brand for vitamins and supplements, recognized for its integrated approach from cultivation to finished product.
