Amway Opens New Nutrition Manufacturing and R&D Facility in California
Amway has opened a new $42 million nutrition manufacturing and R&D facility in Buena Park, California. The 60,000-square-foot site will focus on ingredient granulation for its Nutrilite brand vitamins and supplements.

Amway has officially opened a new 60,000-square-foot facility in Buena Park, California, representing an investment of $42 million. The site is dedicated to nutrition manufacturing and research and development, primarily supporting the company's Nutrilite brand of vitamins, minerals, and dietary supplements.
The new manufacturing section will handle ingredient granulation, a key step in producing vitamin and mineral tablets. Raw ingredients received in powdered form from Nutrilite farms will be processed into a consistency suitable for tablet pressing. The facility will also house R&D operations focused on quality assurance and research for the nutrition product line.
Designed with sustainability in mind, the facility aims to meet LEED Silver certification standards. It incorporates features such as a stormwater control system and the use of low-VOC paints and coatings. This expansion is part of Amway's broader manufacturing growth strategy, which includes five new facilities opening in 2015 and a total investment of $332 million.
In 2014, nutrition products accounted for a significant portion of Amway's business, making up 43 percent of the company's $10.8 billion in global sales. The Nutrilite brand is Amway's largest-selling brand, and the company operates as a direct selling business with sales conducted by independent Amway Business Owners worldwide.
