Ada, Michigan – Keith Randolph, Ph.D., a Fellow at Amway Global Discovery, has coauthored an article published in the European Journal of Nutrition. The May 2017 article, titled "Optimal nutrition and the ever-changing dietary landscape—a conference report," discusses the necessity for nutritional recommendations and policies to adapt as scientific understanding advances.

Randolph's contribution focuses on linking existing and new research. He analyzed earlier studies on diet and disease, which informed the World Health Organization's recommendations for adult fruit and vegetable consumption, alongside newer research exploring the anti-aging effects of diets rich in plant-based foods.

By connecting these research areas, Randolph provides a basis for understanding how a diet abundant in fruits and vegetables may contribute to not only healthier but also longer lives. He emphasizes the role of phytonutrients, unique components found in plant foods, as key factors in promoting health and reducing disease risk.

The publication draws partly from presentations made by Randolph and other scientists at the 2017 Council for Responsible Nutrition International Scientific Symposium in Hamburg. A key conclusion from the symposium was that plant-based diets are crucial for achieving optimal health and healthy longevity. Randolph specifically authored a section titled "Plant-based dietary patterns, chronic disease risk, and healthy longevity: an emerging paradigm for phytonutrients and health promotion."
