Amway's New Nutrilite Plant Undergoes Extensive Quality Testing
Amway's new Nutrilite granulation plant in California is undergoing months of testing before commencing production. The goal is to ensure consistent product quality for consumers.

Buena Park, California – Amway's new Nutrilite granulation plant in Buena Park, California, has completed its construction phase and is now in an intensive quality assurance process. The facility, designed to support the manufacturing of Nutrilite dietary supplement tablets, will not begin production until all its equipment and processes have been tested and approved.
The plant's construction was finished in December 2013, but its first products to be formed into tablets are expected to enter production in spring or summer 2015. The process involves a "process qualification" stage where raw materials are run through the new machinery. This is followed by several review steps where engineers ensure the consistent quality and composition of the granules.
The quality assurance process exceeds government requirements. "We want the customer to get a quality product and the same product every time," said Tom La, a senior process engineer for Nutrilite. In autumn, technical services will begin efficiency improvement initiatives. Production will only commence once satisfaction is achieved.
The new machinery utilizes the latest technology, allowing process parameters to be entered via computers, minimizing the chance of human error. The plant is located in the same complex as the tablet manufacturing facility, reducing transportation and enabling immediate feedback. The building also houses Nutrilite research and development labs as well as a visitor experience center.
