Analysis: Big Mac Price Could Reach $9 by 2036

New York – The cost of McDonald's signature Big Mac could soon reach $9, according to a recent analysis. If the current pace of price increases persists, the iconic fast-food burger might hit the milestone as early as 2036.

The analysis, conducted by Predictionist, a company specializing in market trend predictions, tracked the Big Mac's price in the U.S. from $4.29 in 2015 to $5.69 in 2024. This represents an average annual increase of 3.6 percent over a nine-year period.

Based on this trend, Predictionist projects the Big Mac's price could reach approximately $8.70 within the next decade. A spokesperson for Predictionist highlighted the compounding effect of these increases, stating, "A few percent a year can sound manageable, but compounding changes the way shoppers experience prices. If a family has a regular fast-food routine, the real hit is not one burger going up by a few cents, it is the total bill rising every time that habit repeats."

McDonald's has responded to the projection, emphasizing its commitment to value. "McDonald’s remains focused on delivering delicious food for incredible value for our customers each and every day," McDonald's Corp. stated. "While we won’t comment on speculative predictions, a decade is a long time, and projecting menu prices that far into the future overlooks the many factors that influence pricing over time."
