Anantara Opens Tented Camp in Zambia's Kafue National Park

Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas has opened its first safari property in Africa, Anantara Tented Camp Kafue River, located on the banks of the Kafue River in Zambia's largest national park. The intimate, 13-key camp took three years to develop and operates entirely off-grid.

The camp is situated in one of Africa's largest and least explored national parks. It is elevated 3.5 meters above the ground on rosewood platforms to minimize impact on wildlife corridors and is powered by solar energy with on-site water purification. The design incorporates natural materials and aims to reduce single-use plastics.

Kafue National Park has been undergoing a restoration phase since 2022, a collaboration between African Parks and the Government of Zambia. Enhanced security, rebuilt infrastructure, and improved fire management have facilitated the return of wildlife, including reintroductions of species like the Kafue Lechwe antelope.

Guests can engage in twice-daily game drives and river safaris led by local guides. Accommodation options range from elevated Horizon Terrace Suites to Pool and Bush Villas featuring private plunge pools. The camp also offers unique dining experiences, including meals served on a floating pontoon on the Kafue River.
