Andrzej Bargiel Completes First Continuous Oxygen-Free Descent of Nanga Parbat
Red Bull athlete Andrzej Bargiel has completed the first continuous descent of Nanga Parbat from summit to snowline without supplemental oxygen. The feat concludes a decade of first descents on Pakistan's 8,000-meter peaks.

Red Bull athlete Andrzej Bargiel of Poland has completed the first continuous descent of Nanga Parbat from summit to snowline without the use of supplemental oxygen. The ski descent occurred on July 3, 2026.
The accomplishment marks the culmination of Bargiel's decade-long project, during which he has achieved a series of exceptional first descents on Pakistan's highest mountains. Nanga Parbat, also known as "Killer Mountain," is one of the world's most formidable peaks, presenting unique challenges to climbers and skiers.
According to Bargiel's representatives, he remained on an unbroken line from the summit to the snowline throughout the descent. This required exceptional skill and endurance in extreme conditions. No supplemental oxygen was used, making the feat a significant achievement in the history of mountaineering and extreme skiing.
The project was sponsored by Red Bull. Bargiel has previously completed similar first descents on peaks including K2 and Broad Peak.
