Anhui Television has commenced broadcasting a drama series entirely produced by artificial intelligence (AI), marking a significant first for a Chinese satellite television channel.
The series, named "Taohuatan Ji" (Tale of Peach Blossom Pool), comprises 20 episodes, each approximately 10 minutes in length. The narrative is set during the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty and centers on a court guard who infiltrates a traditional Xuan paper workshop. The plot involves the protection of ancient paper-making techniques amidst political intrigue. All visual elements within the series are explicitly labeled as "AI-produced."
The production received guidance from the Publicity Department of the Anhui Provincial Party Committee and the Anhui Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism. It was jointly produced by several local and regional media and technology companies. "Taohuatan Ji" began airing on Anhui Television on July 22, with broadcasts scheduled daily at 9:50 PM.
Prior to its television debut, the AI-generated series was also featured on the Yangship platform on July 4. This earlier release helped pave the way for its broader broadcast. The initiative highlights the increasing integration of AI in media content creation within China.
