Anixa Biosciences to Present Phase 1 Ovarian Cancer CAR-T Trial Data at ESMO Congress
Dr. Robert Wenham will share findings from Anixa’s Phase 1 clinical trial of a CAR-T therapy for recurrent ovarian cancer at the ESMO Immuno-Oncology & Advanced Therapies Congress in London this December.

Anixa Biosciences will present data from its ongoing Phase 1 clinical trial of a novel CAR-T therapy for recurrent ovarian cancer at the ESMO Immuno-Oncology & Advanced Therapies Congress in London on December 14, 2026. Dr. Robert Wenham, Chair of the Gynecologic Oncology Program at Moffitt Cancer Center and the trial's principal investigator, will lead the presentation.
The trial (NCT05316129) evaluates lira-cel, an autologous CAR-T therapy targeting the follicle-stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR). This receptor is predominantly expressed on ovarian cancer cells rather than healthy tissue. The study aims to determine the safety and preliminary efficacy of the therapy.
According to company reports, the trial has successfully completed treatment for the fifth dosing cohort, reaching a 100-fold increase over the initial dose without observing dose-limiting toxicities. Plans are now in place to advance to a sixth cohort with a 1,000-fold dose increase. Preliminary clinical data indicate some instances of stable disease and patient survival beyond one year.
