AnnJi Pharmaceutical Starts Phase 3 Trial for SBMA Drug Candidate
AnnJi Pharmaceutical has initiated a Phase 3 clinical trial for its drug candidate AJ201, an experimental therapy under development for treating spinal and bulbär muscle atrophy (SBMA).

AnnJi Pharmaceutical has advanced its investigational drug candidate AJ201 (Rosolutamid) into a Phase 3 clinical trial. The study, designated „ROMA-KD", will evaluate the treatment for spinal and bulbär muscle atrophy (SBMA).
AJ201 is described as an orally administered, small molecule compound designed to target multiple disease mechanisms in SBMA. The company states it is the only known investigational therapy for SBMA to reach Phase 3 clinical development.
SBMA, also known as Kennedy's Disease, is a rare, progressive, and inherited neuromuscular disorder. It affects motor neurons, leading to muscle weakness and wasting.
Phase 3 trials are a critical stage in drug development, typically involving a large patient population to confirm efficacy and safety before potential regulatory submissions.
