Anomet Products Offers Composite Clad Wire for Cost Savings
Anomet Products has introduced a custom-manufactured precious metal clad wire designed to replace solid wire, offering comparable performance at a significantly lower cost.

Shrewsbury, Massachusetts – Anomet Products has launched a new line of custom-manufactured precious metal clad wire, targeting applications where high-cost solid precious metals have traditionally been used. The company states this composite wire can achieve specific performance characteristics comparable to solid wire while reducing costs by up to 90 percent.
The clad wire replaces solid platinum, silver, and gold by bonding these precious metals to less expensive core materials. Common core materials include copper, Kovar®, nickel-iron, molybdenum, stainless steel, tantalum, and titanium. Anomet Products highlights that the metallurgical bond ensures the clad wire is functionally equivalent to solid wire.
Designed for use in high-reliability components, the wire offers properties such as corrosion resistance, biocompatibility, high conductivity, radiopacity, and strength. Its applications include medical connectors and micro-switches. The company notes that the clad wire has a smoother finish and is more ductile and formable than filled or plated wire.
Anomet Products offers the clad wire in diameters ranging from 0.002 to 0.125 inches and as ribbon up to 1 inch wide. Pricing is dependent on construction and quantity, with samples and quotes available upon request.
