Ant Group tests proactive AI assistant upgrade

Ant Group is currently testing an updated version of its AI assistant, LingGuang, that will incorporate long-term memory and the ability to proactively carry out tasks. The company plans to make the upgrade more widely available this month.

Development for this enhanced functionality started about six months ago. The upgrade shifts LingGuang's capabilities from merely answering questions and generating applications to managing tasks that unfold over time. The system can utilize its skills and the Model Context Protocol to send messages through DingTalk and control smart-home devices.

Reported test cases include monitoring market changes, managing school attendance check-ins via DingTalk, and revising travel plans when flights are delayed or attractions restrict entry.
