Ant International Secures Payment Licenses from UAE Central Bank
Ant International has obtained two licenses from the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates, enabling it to expand its payment services in the region.
Ant International, the global business arm of Ant Group, announced it has secured a Retail Payment Services and Card Schemes (Category II) license and a Stored Value Facilities license from the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
These approvals position Antom to offer merchant acquiring services in the UAE and allow WorldFirst to provide cross-border financial services in the country.
The expansion comes as the UAE payments market grows and the country serves as a regional hub for trade and cross-border transactions, according to the company.
Alipay+ will continue to operate in the UAE through partnerships with locally licensed banks and acquirers, separate from these new approvals.
