Anthropic AI Models Get Global Release After US Lifts Export Curbs

The United States has lifted export restrictions on Anthropic’s latest Claude AI models, Fable 5 and Mythos 5. This decision comes approximately three weeks after the Trump administration had identified the models as posing national security risks.

Anthropic confirmed in a blog post that Fable 5 is now available globally. US organizations have regained access to Mythos 5 since June 26. The company is working with the government to expand access to Mythos for a broader range of domestic and international partners participating in the Glasswing program.

The Glasswing program allows cybersecurity researchers at trusted companies to access the Mythos model for defensive purposes. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick stated in a letter to Anthropic that the company will "no longer need a license for exports or in-country transfers of its Claude Mythos and Claude Fable AI models."

The letter acknowledged that Anthropic has taken steps, in close coordination with the US government, to address the risks posed by these models. The move allows for wider adoption and use of the AI models both domestically and internationally.
