Anthropic CEO: AI Will Not Destroy Software Industry
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei stated that the company's goal is to create more value for customers with its AI assistant Claude, not to disrupt or destroy existing industries. The comments came amid broader market speculation.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has sought to allay fears that artificial intelligence could dismantle the software industry. Speaking at an event alongside Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, Amodei asserted that Anthropic's aim with its AI assistant, Claude, is to bring "peace" and create additional value for clients, rather than to destroy existing businesses.
The remarks address concerns that have surfaced following the introduction of plugins for Claude, which some observers linked to a significant market downturn. In late January, the software sector saw an estimated $1 trillion in market capitalization evaporate, sparking discussions about the future of Software as a Service (SaaS).
However, major software companies such as Salesforce have demonstrated resilience. Salesforce recently experienced one of its best trading days on the stock market, suggesting the sector's ability to adapt and recover.
Amodei emphasized Anthropic's commitment to customer value, framing potential collaborations with companies like Salesforce as synergistic. He described such partnerships as achieving an outcome where "one plus one is greater than three," indicating the creation of amplified value beyond individual contributions.
