Anthropic CEO to dine with Trump at White House

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei is set to dine with President Donald Trump at the White House on Sunday, according to a report by Axios.

The meeting comes at a time of heightened scrutiny over artificial intelligence safety and potential mitigation measures, as well as an ongoing legal battle between the AI firm and the administration.

President Trump is also reportedly scheduled to meet with CEOs of major AI companies on Tuesday, amid growing calls for guardrails for the technology and warnings from some experts regarding its potential risks. Amodei, along with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, has also been called to appear at an Australian Senate inquiry on AI.

The relationship between Anthropic and the Trump administration has been contentious. On Friday, a federal appeals court upheld the Pentagon’s decision to blacklist Anthropic. The court rejected Anthropic’s arguments that the Department of Defense's ban on its Claude models was arbitrary and unconstitutional.
