Anthropic develops system to verify AI model output authenticity
Anthropic has introduced FlashProve, an open-source system designed to cryptographically verify which AI model generated a specific response.

Researchers at Anthropic have announced FlashProve, a system aimed at providing verifiable proof for AI inference. The technology utilizes cryptographic signatures to provide a mathematical guarantee that a specific output originated from the claimed AI model, rather than being a misattributed response.
The system addresses transparency concerns within the industry, such as the potential for AI companies to swap models for lower-cost alternatives without user knowledge. By enabling independent verification, the tool allows third parties to confirm that tasks—such as cybersecurity scanning or business decision-making—were executed by the specific, high-performance models promised.
To maintain security, the system requires labs to publish a model 'fingerprint.' This allows for verification without exposing the proprietary weights that constitute the models’ core intellectual property. The system is designed to be lightweight, facilitating validation processes without imposing heavy computational requirements on the end user.
