This pledge comes ahead of the company's anticipated market debut, which could value it at $2 trillion, expected to occur after the U.S. midterm elections in November 2026.
CEO Dario Amodei confirmed this in an essay published in January, where he emphasized the obligation of wealthy individuals to help solve problems and criticized the cynicism towards philanthropy sometimes seen within the tech industry.
According to a Reuters report, Anthropic aims to raise up to $100 billion in its IPO, which would surpass SpaceX's valuation at its debut. Competitor OpenAI has postponed its own market debut to around 2027 due to AI safety concerns.
Anthropic has a history of philanthropy. Earlier this year, the company donated $20 million to Public First Action, an organization that educates the public on AI and works to implement sensible safety measures. Anthropic has stated that its donations are intended to provide support, not exert influence.
