Anthropic seeks chip supply from SK Hynix for internal development

SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won has revealed that AI company Anthropic has requested supply from SK Hynix for its self-developed chip project. The statement was made at an artificial intelligence event in San Francisco, California, as reported by Bloomberg.

Choi Tae-won described the ambition of an AI developer to pursue in-house chip development as rare and noteworthy, suggesting a growing industry trend for specialized hardware.

This disclosure follows earlier reports from The Information, which indicated that Anthropic had begun early-stage development of its own AI chips. The company was reportedly in discussions with Samsung Electronics regarding a custom chip project, potentially leveraging Samsung's 2nm manufacturing process and advanced packaging technologies.
