Anthropic Updates Claude Voice Mode With More Capable Models

Artificial intelligence firm Anthropic announced on Thursday an update to its Claude chatbot's voice mode, enhancing its capabilities with more advanced language models. Users can now select from Opus, Sonnet, and Haiku models within the voice interface, offering greater flexibility and performance.
The previous iteration of Claude's voice mode, launched last year and powered by the Haiku model, primarily focused on quick responses. Anthropic stated that the revamped voice mode now defaults to the fastest version of the user's last-selected model from the text interface. This allows for more complex interactions, such as providing communication style feedback or brainstorming product market research.
A significant addition is Claude's ability to integrate with other applications, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack, Canva, and Notion. This integration allows users to perform tasks like rescheduling meetings, drafting emails, or creating documents in Notion directly through voice commands.
This integration capability sets Claude apart from competitors like OpenAI, whose ChatGPT voice mode offers conversational enhancements but lacks the same level of tool integration for productivity tasks. Anthropic's move signals a growing competition in the AI assistant market, with a focus on creating more seamless and integrated user experiences.
