Aokah and industry leaders identify five trends redefining global competency centers
Technology firm Aokah and industry leaders have pinpointed five key trends reshaping the future of Global Capability Centers (GCCs).

New York, July 15, 2026 – Aokah, along with sector leaders, has identified five crucial trends set to redefine the role and impact of Global Capability Centers (GCCs). As businesses increasingly leverage GCCs strategically, the ability to "Globalize Work with Confidence™" emerges as a critical skill for the next decade.
Over the past decade, GCCs have transformed from cost-saving hubs to centers of innovation and strategic business partnerships. Despite this evolution, over 72% of new GCC setups face significant delays or cost overruns within their first 24 months, indicating systemic implementation challenges.
Atul Vashistha, CEO of Aokah, stated that these issues stem from systemic problems rather than talent or location. "What distinguishes leaders today is not ambition, but the wisdom to plan well, the expertise to execute consistently, and the system to ensure sustained results. This is 'Globalizing Work with Confidence™' in practice," Vashistha explained.
The identified trends include the large-scale implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI), a shift from activity-based reporting to outcome-driven governance, and the responsible management of AI. Surveys indicate a significant majority of GCCs are investing in generative and agent AI, yet only a small fraction have established comprehensive governance models.
Organizations that view AI as a strategic asset, not merely a departmental tool, will set the pace for the next phase of GCC evolution. Successful scaling requires not only technological advancements but also the adoption of new business processes, roles, and metrics.
