Apacer's SSD Technology Supports Edge AI

Industrial component manufacturer Apacer Technology Inc. has unveiled its new storage technology aimed at meeting the growing demands of edge computing AI applications. Its SLC-liteX technology-enabled SSDs are designed to boost both performance and endurance, particularly for real-time AI inference.

The shift in AI capabilities is moving computing power from centralized cloud environments to edge devices, where data processing occurs closer to its source. This facilitates faster response times and reduces reliance on network connectivity. In industrial sectors, this trend supports predictive maintenance and other applications requiring real-time data analysis.

Apacer states that its SLC-liteX technology offers high performance and ultra-low latency for data storage and transmission. The technology also enhances endurance, making it suitable for intensive AI inference tasks such as KV-cache operations. The capacity and performance of these SSDs can rival traditional DRAM, while offering larger storage for AI models and datasets.

The success of edge AI applications depends on the availability of high-performance components like specialized processing units (NPUs) and reliable storage solutions. Apacer believes its new SSD technology represents a significant step toward smarter, more efficient industrial applications as AI and the Internet of Things (AIoT) converge.
