APEC Digital and AI Ministers' Meeting to be held in Chengdu in July
China will host the APEC Digital and AI Ministers’ Meeting in Chengdu, Sichuan, on July 23, 2026. The meeting will convene ministers to discuss the role of digital technology and artificial intelligence in the Asia-Pacific region.

Chengdu, China – The APEC Digital and AI Ministers’ Meeting and related "Digital Week" activities are scheduled to take place in Chengdu, Sichuan, from July 16 to 24, 2026. The ministerial meeting itself is set for July 23, serving as a key platform for fostering regional exchange and cooperation in digital and AI domains.
This event marks China's third time hosting an APEC ministerial meeting, the first since 2014. Throughout 2026, China will host a total of 11 ministerial-level meetings and related events across various specialized fields. The Digital and AI Ministers' Meeting continues the tradition of high-level dialogue, shifting focus from telecommunications to digital technology and AI to reflect recent advancements.
The meeting's theme is "Empowering the Asia-Pacific Community with Digital and AI Technologies." Ministers from APEC economies will gather to engage in in-depth discussions on critical issues such as leveraging digital and AI technologies for development, promoting universal and meaningful digital connectivity, and supporting digital inclusion and skills enhancement.
Prior to the ministerial meeting, the 73rd APEC Telecommunications Working Group meeting will be held from July 16 to 22. Following the ministerial sessions, China's Cyberspace Administration and the National Data Bureau will host other Digital Week events, including a high-level dialogue on digitalization and AI on July 24.
