ApoRisk GmbH has developed the PharmaRisk all-risk insurance concept for pharmacies, consolidating all operational risks into a single policy, including multi-pharmacy ownership and mail-order business.
Karlsruhe – German insurance broker ApoRisk GmbH has introduced its PharmaRisk insurance concept, designed to cover all risks associated with pharmacy operations under a single policy. This all-risk solution aims to address the evolving landscape of the German pharmacy sector, which includes new regulations such as the Apothekenbetriebsordnung (ApBetrO), AMNOG II, packaging size ordinances, and changes related to multi-pharmacy ownership and mail-order services.
The PharmaRisk policy extends beyond standard coverage to encompass various facets of pharmacy business operations, including multiple pharmacy ownership and mail-order sales. It also addresses legal requirements such as employee pension schemes and the pharmacist owner's personal liability for damages incurred by employees or associated businesses. The company states that the objective is to reduce the administrative burden on pharmacists, allowing them to concentrate on their core duties of dispensing medication and providing patient consultations.
Insurance coverage is determined by the pharmacy's total turnover, including all affiliated businesses. The sum insured is based on the annual net turnover and can be adjusted retrospectively at the end of the year to reflect the actual revenue. If the achieved turnover falls short of projections, the sum insured is adjusted accordingly, potentially leading to premium refunds or additional payments. Notably, PharmaRisk covers unspecified risks unless explicitly excluded, offering broader protection than traditional policies that typically list covered perils.
The scope of PharmaRisk coverage includes property damage, business interruption losses, and product liability for personal injury, property damage, and financial loss. The policy offers coverage up to a maximum compensation of EUR 19 million. ApoRisk GmbH operates as an insurance broker specializing in the needs of pharmacies and provides an online calculator for premium estimation, along with a detailed checklist outlining the insurance coverage.
