Appian Ranks First in Workflow Automation and Platform Consolidation in Gartner Report

Appian has secured the top ranking for workflow automation and platform consolidation use cases in the Gartner 2026 Critical Capabilities for Business Orchestration and Automation Technologies report. Additionally, Appian has been recognized as a leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant 2026 for Business Orchestration and Automation Technologies (BOAT).

The Gartner report evaluated 20 vendors across five common BOAT use cases. Among those identified as leaders, Appian was the only vendor to rank in the top three for all five use cases and received the highest score for the critical capability of "platform operations and governance." This recognition comes as the BOAT market sees significant momentum driven by evolving automation needs, with organizations transitioning from task automation to agent-based automation and addressing the proliferation of AI agents.

Gartner predicts that by 2030, 70% of enterprises will adopt a consolidated automation platform that orchestrates business processes, AI agents, bots, APIs, and human actions, up from 10% today. Appian's platform enables organizations to coordinate complex operations by integrating artificial intelligence, systems, and people.
