Apple addressing Safari interface constraints on iPhone Duo

Apple is working on a software update to address concerns regarding Safari's interface layout on the iPhone Duo's external display.

24 October 2026

Apple’s WebKit team has acknowledged issues regarding the display layout of the Safari browser on the iPhone Duo. Users have reported that the browser’s address bar and control buttons occupy a disproportionate amount of space on the device's exterior screen, compressing website content and limiting usability.

Jen Simmons of the WebKit team noted that current constraints prevent websites from extending behind Safari’s control interface. This limitation makes it difficult for web developers to utilize the full width of the external display for page layouts.

The company is currently researching potential fixes that would allow for better space utilization without compromising UI elements. Apple has expressed caution regarding a simple full-screen override, citing concerns that poorly adapted websites might hide critical buttons or text. Apple is actively seeking developer input to create a sustainable standard for the foldable form factor.
