Apple CarPlay Adds Four Third-Party AI Apps Ahead of Siri AI Launch
Apple's CarPlay system now supports four third-party AI chatbot applications, including Meta AI, prior to the release of iOS 27 and an integrated Siri AI.

Apple's CarPlay system has expanded its support to include four third-party AI chatbot applications, with Meta AI being the latest addition. This comes ahead of Apple's planned release of iOS 27, which is expected to introduce an integrated Siri AI.
Recent reports indicate that Meta AI has appeared in the CarPlay interface, joining ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Grok as supported AI applications. This integration allows users to access advanced language models directly through their vehicle's infotainment system while driving.
CarPlay began supporting conversational AI applications with the release of iOS 26.4. While Meta AI's icon is visible for some users, full functionality is not yet universal. Some users encountering the Meta AI icon receive a message stating that their account is not currently supported.
The upcoming iOS 27 update, scheduled for release in September, is anticipated to feature the new Siri AI. This expansion of AI capabilities within CarPlay reflects a broader industry trend towards integrating artificial intelligence into vehicles for enhanced user experience and functionality.
