Apple executive chairman Tim Cook has been named the recipient of the 2026 Robert N. Noyce Award, the highest honor in the U.S. semiconductor industry. The award recognizes significant contributions to the sector's technology and policy.
Tim Cook, Apple's executive chairman, will receive the 2026 Robert N. Noyce Award, presented by the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA). The award ceremony is scheduled for November 19, 2026, in San Jose, California.
The Robert N. Noyce Award is presented annually to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and made significant contributions to the semiconductor industry's technology and public policy. The award was established in 1990 to honor Robert Noyce, a co-founder of Intel and a pioneer in the industry.
During Cook's tenure as Apple CEO, the company significantly impacted the global technology landscape with devices powered by its custom semiconductor components. Cook transitioned to his role as executive chairman in September 2026.
Lisa Su, AMD's chair and CEO and the 2026 SIA board chair, praised Cook's advocacy for U.S. leadership in semiconductors and advanced manufacturing. "We are proud to present the Robert N. Noyce Award to Tim in recognition of his enduring contributions to technology and the semiconductor industry," Su stated.
