Such a model could address the demand for a more accessible macOS experience. While the current Mac Mini is a capable desktop, its starting price of $899 may be prohibitive for users who primarily need a machine for web-based tasks.
The concept envisions the "Mac Neo" using a smartphone-level chip, a power supply, basic speakers, and a few ports within a compact enclosure. This approach would mirror the strategy behind the previously released MacBook Neo, which offers adequate laptop performance using Apple's iPhone silicon for approximately $699.
A more affordable Mac option could broaden Apple's market reach and provide a competitive offering against existing budget-friendly computers. The proposal highlights the potential to balance performance, features, and cost for users who do not require high-end computing power.
