Apple cuts staff on Vision Pro and Siri development teams

Apple is laying off staff from its Vision Pro and Siri development teams, according to a Bloomberg report. The cuts include largely shutting down a Vision Pro gaming team and reducing the size of the team responsible for creating immersive content for the device.

More than 200 jobs have been eliminated as part of these changes. Apple stated to Bloomberg that the adjustments are intended "to evolve our business to deliver the best experiences for our users," although new roles are also being created.

The Vision Pro headset was launched in early 2024 as Apple's significant investment in "spatial computing." The device carries a price tag of $3,499, and its market reception has been a subject of analysis.

These workforce reductions suggest strategic shifts within Apple's product and service development as the company seeks to optimize its resources and focus on areas deemed most promising.
