Apple expands Siri functionality to third-party applications
The latest iOS 27.3 update allows developers to integrate Siri’s AI capabilities into third-party apps, enabling cross-platform task execution.

Apple has begun rolling out the iOS 27.3 update, which introduces expanded integration capabilities for Siri. The update allows third-party developers to embed Siri’s AI features into their software, enabling the voice assistant to access user context and process natural language prompts directly within external applications.
The update includes a new feature referred to as "app skills," designed to allow developers to aggregate multiple tasks into a single, cohesive action. This reduces friction for the end user, who no longer needs to specify the name of an application to initiate a request, as Siri can now leverage on-screen awareness to determine the intent behind a command.
This shift highlights Apple's attempt to modernize Siri’s infrastructure to better compete with evolving AI assistants in the broader technology market. By moving away from a siloed approach, the company aims to increase the utility of its voice assistant in an ecosystem increasingly dominated by generative AI integrations.
The features are currently included in a developer preview. Apple has not yet confirmed the exact timeline for a public release to all iOS users.
