Apple Expands Smart Home Offerings with LG and Schneider Electric

Apple is deepening its smart home strategy with new devices developed in partnership with LG and Schneider Electric. The upcoming products include thermostats, temperature sensors, and smart door locks.

7 October 2026

Apple is reportedly expanding its smart home ecosystem with several new accessories developed in collaboration with LG and Schneider Electric. Details uncovered from the iOS 27.2 system code reveal plans for thermostats, temperature sensors, and smart door locks.

The collaboration with LG is expected to yield both standard and LG's GEMS-branded versions of smart thermostats and door locks, alongside general temperature and humidity sensors. The smart door lock, slated for release in graphite and silver finishes, will feature Bluetooth, Thread, NFC, and Ultra Wideband (UWB) connectivity, enabling secure access control through device credential verification and precise location detection.

Further partnerships with Schneider Electric are also indicated, pointing to a broader push into smart home automation. The scope of these collaborations suggests Apple aims to enhance its HomeKit platform with a wider range of integrated devices. These moves signify a continued investment by Apple in solidifying its position within the growing smart home market.

The smart thermostat features a circular design and supports dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth, and Thread. It includes a 60GHz radar for presence detection and offers features like humidity display and adjustable screen brightness. The temperature sensor measures both temperature and humidity, powered by a CR2477 battery, and includes magnetic mounting for easy installation.
