Apple fixes data error in native weather app
Apple has resolved a system issue that caused its weather app to display extreme and inaccurate temperatures across multiple Chinese cities on November 4.
On the morning of November 4, iPhone users in China reported significant data discrepancies in the built-in Weather app. The application displayed extreme temperature lows, reaching approximately -30°C in major cities including Beijing and Shanghai, sparking widespread discussion among users.
Apple’s customer support team confirmed that the issue stemmed from a system interface error rather than a hardware malfunction. The company stated that its technical team has since implemented a fix. Apple denied user theories that the error was caused by location tracking drifts, noting that only specific dates were affected rather than the entire forecast range.
This incident follows similar issues reported earlier this year, including a June error where the app displayed temperatures near 50°C in Hangzhou, which local weather authorities later clarified as a software error. Apple has expressed regret for the disruption and stated it is working to enhance the stability of its weather data services.
