Apple forecasts persistent Mac and iPad supply constraints through 2026
Apple has confirmed that global memory component shortages will continue to impact production schedules for Mac and iPad product lines until at least the end of 2026.
During its latest earnings call, Apple identified a persistent shortfall in global memory supply as a significant operational challenge. The shortage has driven up component costs and constrained production capacity, directly affecting the company's ability to maintain standard shipping timelines for its hardware portfolio.
Current supply chain data reflects these pressures. Customers ordering high-end configurations, such as the Mac Studio M5 Ultra, face lead times of seven to eight weeks, with specific models featuring 512GB of memory seeing delays extend to 12 weeks. Specialized hardware, including certain MacBook Pro units with nano-texture displays, are also experiencing shipping cycle extensions.
Industry analysts note that as memory remains a critical component for Apple’s high-performance computing devices, the supply bottleneck forces the company to throttle production volumes. Consumers should expect ongoing availability challenges and extended order processing times for the foreseeable future.
