Apple Hints at Paid iCloud Plus Tier for Increased AI Usage

Apple is considering adding a paid tier to its iCloud Plus service, offering users the ability to expand their limits for artificial intelligence features. Company CEO Tim Cook indicated during a Thursday earnings call that he believes users will extensively utilize Apple Intelligence and the upcoming Siri AI.

"We will have some kind of upgrade possibilities on iCloud Plus where people can buy up the stack," Cook stated, referring to future service offerings. This suggests Apple may differentiate AI feature access, potentially providing more advanced capabilities for paying subscribers.

The company is expected to broadly launch its new AI-powered Siri with iOS 27 this fall. These advancements will enable functionalities such as answering questions based on on-screen content and performing actions across applications. A standalone Siri AI app, featuring a ChatGPT-like interface, is also anticipated.

Apple's AI features, initially unveiled in June with enhanced Siri and system integrations, generated discussion regarding their potentially limited free usage. The recent hints about a tiered service structure clarify the company's strategy for pricing and availability of its AI services.
