Apple HomeView Smart Home Hub Camera Specs Leaked
Specifications for Apple's upcoming smart home hub, codenamed HomeView, have been revealed through an analysis of the macOS system, detailing its camera capabilities.
Technical specifications for Apple's forthcoming smart home hub, codenamed HomeView, have emerged through analysis of the macOS 26.7 RC1 system. The device is reportedly equipped with a Sony IMX614 CMOS sensor, capable of capturing photos at a resolution of 3744 x 3024 pixels and recording video at 30 or 60 frames per second.
The HomeView unit is expected to feature advanced object recognition, including the ability to identify humans, faces, hands, cats, and dogs. It can also track users continuously across video frames by analyzing their full body appearance. The device supports 3D facial tracking, recognizing position, rotation, and expressions, and can be woken by motion using RGB color imaging rather than infrared.
Further capabilities include device-to-object distance detection and ambient light estimation. However, the device will not support Face ID or infrared-based distance detection.
The leaked details were discovered by analyzing the system's code and were published on the X platform. Apple has not yet officially announced the HomeView device or its release date.
