Apple HomeView Smart Home Hub Features Speaker Differences
Apple's upcoming HomeView smart home hub will feature distinct speaker configurations between its desktop and wall-mounted variants. The desktop model boasts enhanced bass performance.
Details have emerged regarding Apple's forthcoming HomeView smart home hub, revealing specific differences in its speaker hardware between desktop and wall-mounted versions. Technology publication 9to5Mac reported that the desktop variant includes an additional downward-firing woofer and dual passive radiators, providing a significant upgrade in bass reproduction compared to the more streamlined wall-mounted unit.
According to Apple's official specifications, both the desktop and wall-mounted HomeView models are equipped with two custom full-range drivers and support Spatial Audio. However, the desktop version is augmented with a custom downward-firing woofer and two dual passive radiators, enabling deeper bass and clearer treble.
The downward-firing woofer directs sound towards the surface below the device, using reflection to enhance low-frequency output. The passive radiators, which do not actively produce sound, bolster bass performance through vibration. The dual radiators also help to cancel out vibrations, further contributing to the deeper bass.
Both HomeView models are powered by the A18 chip and utilize computational audio driven by onboard sensors to continuously optimize loudness and bass response across different volume levels. The wall-mounted version is calibrated for its installation scenario, delivering full and balanced sound without the dedicated woofer and passive radiators found in the desktop configuration.
