Apple Increases Storage Requirements for Apple Intelligence Features

Apple has revised its system requirements for the upcoming Apple Intelligence features, increasing storage demands for some future device models. The latest updates indicate that devices such as the iPhone 17 Pro and similar models may require up to 14 gigabytes of storage to operate the AI functionality.

Previous system requirements, which applied to iOS 18.1 and other new operating system versions, previously mandated only 7 gigabytes of storage for Apple Intelligence functions, with no requirement specified for Apple Watch.

The elevated requirements specifically apply to the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models. The stipulations extend to future iPad and Mac models equipped with M4 or later chips (iPad) and M3 or later chips (Mac) respectively, provided they have at least 12GB of unified memory. Apple Vision Pro (M5) devices are also included under these new specifications.

This adjustment likely reflects the substantial computational power and storage capacity needed for Apple Intelligence. As AI capabilities advance, device requirements are updated to ensure smooth performance for increasingly complex tasks.
