Apple initiates beta testing for AI-powered conversation analysis on Apple Watch
Apple has launched beta testing for new AI-driven audio features on the Apple Watch, enabling real-time conversation recapping and sound recognition.

Apple has begun beta testing a suite of AI-powered "Audio Intelligence" features for the Apple Watch Series 12. Released as part of the iOS 27.3 developer update, the tools aim to assist users by identifying specific environment sounds and processing human speech.
The update includes four primary opt-in features: sound recognition, which notifies users of alarms or sirens; music identification powered by Shazam; and two features that focus on spoken conversations. Live Rewind allows users to revisit recent dialogue, while Siri Recaps provides automated summaries of discussions.
The conversation-focused features have drawn attention due to broader industry concerns regarding privacy in AI-enabled wearables. Apple maintains that these features are entirely voluntary, positioning them as accessibility and productivity tools while attempting to address potential public apprehension surrounding always-on recording technology.
