Apple has released the first developer preview of iOS 27.3, introducing Apple Intelligence features to users in China. To operate within the local regulatory framework, Apple has partnered with Alibaba, integrating the latter's Qianwen model into the iPhone's core AI functionalities.
Under this partnership, users can access Qianwen directly through Siri, system-wide writing tools, and visual intelligence features. The integration allows for seamless synchronization; content generated or inquiries made via Apple Intelligence are automatically shared with the standalone Qianwen app, where users can access additional features like text-to-speech, sharing, and further editing tools.
The deployment represents a strategic shift for Apple as it works to deliver competitive AI features in China. By embedding local models into its ecosystem, the company aims to overcome the barriers that have previously limited the rollout of its advanced intelligence suite in the region.
