Apple Intelligence Bug Affects New iPhones

Owners of certain iPhone 17 models are reporting difficulties in activating Apple Intelligence. The problem appears to stem from a server error that prevents the full download of essential support files, which can range from 7 to 10 GB in size. Without these files, Apple's AI features cannot be utilized.

Users have described scenarios where Apple Intelligence initially worked but then required reactivation, with the subsequent download of support files failing to complete. Standard troubleshooting steps, such as restarting the device, resetting network settings, and logging out of Apple ID, have not resolved the activation failure.

Apple has acknowledged the issue and is reportedly developing a software update to address it. While a specific timeline has not been provided, a fix is anticipated in an upcoming update, potentially iOS 26.1 or a point release like 26.0.1, possibly in October. Temporary workarounds suggested include adjusting network settings, such as disabling cellular data when on Wi-Fi or toggling airplane mode.

The bug seems to affect various recent iPhone models, including the iPhone 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, and Air. The full extent of the problem is still unclear, but Apple has confirmed that a resolution is in progress.
