Apple introduces MacBook Pro with touchscreen and PROLED display

Apple has unveiled its first touchscreen-enabled MacBook Pro models featuring new PROLED XDR display technology, while maintaining battery performance comparable to previous generations.

28 October 2026

During an event in Los Angeles on October 28, Apple introduced updated MacBook Pro models equipped with PROLED XDR displays and integrated touchscreen functionality. Despite the hardware changes, the company reports that energy efficiency remains consistent with earlier Mini LED versions.

The 16-inch M5 Pro model leads the lineup in terms of longevity, offering up to 24 hours of video playback and 17 hours of wireless web browsing. The 16-inch M5 Max variant reaches 22 hours of video playback, while the 14-inch versions offer 20 to 22 hours depending on the internal configuration.

Technological specifications indicate the new models retain existing battery capacities, with 14-inch units featuring a 72.6Wh battery and 16-inch models utilizing a 100Wh unit. The shift to PROLED technology is aimed at display performance without necessitating a decrease in operational time per charge.
