Apple Launches AirPods 5 with Active Noise Cancellation, Preorders Open

Apple's new AirPods 5 are now available for preorder, incorporating active noise cancellation (ANC) into the standard model for the first time. This feature, previously exclusive to higher-end versions, aims to bring advanced audio technology to a wider consumer base.
The latest AirPods generation will officially go on sale on September 18th. This launch coincides with the release of other new Apple products, including the Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4, and the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.
Two distinct versions of the AirPods 5 are being offered. The base model, priced at $129, includes the newly standard active noise cancellation. An upgraded version, retailing for $149, offers additional features such as a wireless charging case and extended battery life, alongside touch controls for managing playback and calls.
Consumers can place preorders for the AirPods 5 through major retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart, as well as directly from Apple's online store. The introduction of ANC at a lower price point marks a significant update to Apple's popular audio accessory line.
