Apple Podcasts Adds Video Support for Subscribers

Apple has announced it is expanding the functionality of its Apple Podcasts service to support video content for subscribers. This change allows content creators to offer exclusive video programs and other video-based content to their subscribers in over 170 countries and regions.
The subscription mechanism, launched in 2021, has previously enabled ad-free listening, bonus audio episodes, early access, and subscriber-only content. With the latest update, subscribers can expect to receive exclusive video series, ad-free videos, and early access to video content.
Apple earlier this year introduced a video podcast experience based on HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) technology. This allows users to switch between watching and listening, play episodes in full-screen mode, and download videos for offline viewing.
With recent system updates, including iOS 17, Apple Podcasts has also expanded support for video podcasts. New features include synchronized transcripts, chapters, media links, and the playback of video podcasts on Mac and Apple TV.
