Apple released the third developer preview of its macOS 27.0 (Golden Gate) operating system yesterday. This update includes new dynamic wallpaper options, specifically featuring the Golden Gate Bridge at sunset and with night traffic.
The new wallpapers, titled "Golden Gate Sunset" and "Golden Gate Night Traffic," animate when a Mac is unlocked or set as a screensaver. The sunset version depicts waves crashing on rocks near the bridge, while the night version shows cars crossing it.
This release follows the initial beta version, which had introduced a more abstract "Golden Gate" wallpaper. Reports suggest Apple may add more Golden Gate-themed wallpapers in future updates, continuing a pattern of adding multiple thematic elements to new OS releases.
macOS Golden Gate is currently available only to developers, with a public beta expected soon. The latest beta also focuses on refining the operating system's "liquid glass" visual effects.
