Apple Releases macOS Sonoma 14.6 Developer Beta 5
Apple has released the fifth developer preview of its macOS Sonoma 14.6 operating system for Mac computers. The update focuses on bug fixes and system improvements rather than introducing new user-facing features.

Apple has rolled out the fifth developer beta of macOS Sonoma 14.6 for Mac computers. The release, identified by internal build number 25G5065a, follows a one-week release cycle from the previous beta version.
According to Apple's official release notes, this update does not introduce significant new features. Instead, it concentrates on addressing known issues and enhancing system stability, aligning with the typical development process for operating system updates.
A notable change within this beta is the deprecation of Encrypted HFS+ (CoreStorage). Apple advises users to transition to encrypted APFS format for external drive backups, as support for the older format will be discontinued in future macOS versions. The update also rectifies an issue where macOS could incorrectly flag certain applications as Intel-only.
Furthermore, the beta includes a fix for the HealthKit API, specifically addressing potential inaccuracies in time-weighted average statistical queries when sample data points overlap. This correction ensures more reliable data handling for health metrics. Development efforts are also progressing towards the next major macOS release, reportedly macOS 27.
