Apple Releases Second Public Beta for iOS 27 and iPadOS 27
Apple has released the second public beta for its iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 operating systems. The update brings several minor changes and new features, closely mirroring the latest developer preview.
Cupertino, California – Apple released the second public beta version for iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 on July 22. The update follows the developer beta release by approximately one week and incorporates changes previously seen in the developer beta 4.
Key additions include an "Auto Download" toggle in the Apple TV app's settings. This feature automatically downloads the next two episodes of shows a user has started watching and removes them after viewing. In the Photos app, a new "Zoom Photos to Fill" option is available, which subtly enlarges photos that closely match the screen's aspect ratio, and is enabled by default.
The update also refines the Siri Voices selection interface, offering more options and a clearer presentation, particularly for devices supporting custom Siri voices. However, a wallpaper feature introduced in a previous beta (Beta 3) has been removed.
Other adjustments include the addition of ProRes Log format options within the Camera settings for video recording, more granular control over Wi-Fi Assist per network, and updated AirPod controls in the Control Center.
These public beta releases are intended for testing purposes. Users are advised to exercise caution when installing beta software on primary devices as it may contain bugs or instability.
